New Cobia Regulations
Next Meeting: The Beaufort Sportfishing and Diving Club’s March meeting will be held Thursday, March 21, 2019 at the Beaufort Yacht Club on Lady’s Island off Meridian Road. The social begins at 6:30 p.m.; the meeting at 7:00 p.m.
When the moon is full and the jasmines are blooming the Cobia will arrive. Therefore, its time to prepare for an early Cobia season. Due to South Carolina's specific Cobia laws in Beaufort and part of Colleton County an officer from the SCDNR Wildlife Department will review the specific current regulations.
The guest speaker will be well known local Captian Danny Rourk of Tailwind Charters and Beaufort Boat and Dock Supply. Captain Danny will discuss cast sighting in the sounds and offshore fishing for Cobia. More importantly, how to correctly measure and release Cobia. He will also discuss the importance of carefully releasing large female species. A member of BSFDC will also take home a very large Cobia dip net!
Congratulations again to Charlie Depolo for winning the $50 weigh-in drawing in February sponsored by Boat and Dock Supply.
